This is a fantastic opal with outrageous color. Check out the transluminated shot on the third line. You would never suspect that that piece of clear core held such an array of fire. The opal changes color on each of its four long flanks. There are four distinctly dominant colors flashing at each of its four directions. There is blue from one angle while the opal is red from a slightly different angle and as it turns, bright yellow, from another, and spring-grass green from the 4th. In addition, at the 1/8th turn the colors fuse to turquoise, purple, and orange, what a display specimen this is! If only the camera could do it justice. Quintessential Virgin Valley!
This opal was recovered at Rainbow Ridge Opal Mine, June 1, 2006, Virgin Valley, Nevada.
